Dear friend,
The prospects of improving health have never been so exciting. What were causes
of death and despair 20 years ago are now diseases and conditions that we can
successfully treat. New therapies, drugs and modes of treatment promise relief
from life-crippling and fatal illnesses, and offer hope to people who once had
none.
And yet, while the fast-paced advances in medicine are energizing, we have

learned
that new technologies and treatments are not enough to radically change healthcare
by themselves. There is still something essential to the healing process that
involves the human spirit. We know that individuals progress toward health better
when they have hope, and when they feel in control. We know that an environment
that is rich in human compassion enhances healing.
This is why Centura Health has chosen to have, as its central tenet, an emphasis
on creating a superior experience for its patients, residents and their families—one
that is as attentive to their emotional and spiritual needs as it is inherent
to our mission to further the healing ministry of Christ. We go to great lengths
to address the patient’s needs—mind body and spirit—at each
step in the healthcare process, and to make the experience smoother,
more effective and less fearful.
This can only happen by finding and nurturing caregivers and support staff whose
work is more than a job—it’s a mission. This kind of attentiveness
must be an extension of every one of our associates’ deepest beliefs about
what they find important, how they can most matter and the sacred nature of life.
We believe that these are the kind of people who comprise the Centura Health
family—now more than 12,000 strong and making up the state’s largest
family of hospitals and health services.
In this, our 2005 report to you, we are pleased to introduce you to just a few
of our remarkable associates in the hope that you will gain a glimpse into the
heart and soul of the Centura organization. By meeting them, we hope you’ll
see the remarkable spirit present in our hospitals, senior residences and home
care and hospice organization.
Centura Health stands by its mission to nurture the health of the people in our
communities and care for those who are ill. When you turn to the Centura family
of caregivers, we believe we are worthy of your trust. We are a group of healthcare
professionals unlike any other in Colorado and welcome the opportunity to serve.
